After completing advanced medical treatment, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia returned to the country today after four months. She was accompanied by her two daughters-in-law, Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Sharmila Rahman.

On Tuesday (6 May) at around 10:30 am, the air ambulance carrying Khaleda Zia landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. Shortly after 11:30 am, she was seen leaving the airport in a white Prado vehicle.

Begum Khaleda Zia was seated in the front of the vehicle, while her two daughters-in-law sat in the back. Despite the long journey following medical treatment, she appeared cheerful and acknowledged party workers by nodding in greeting.

Before her vehicle departed, members of the Air Force, RAB, police, the army, CRT units and SSF personnel formed a tight security cordon around the convoy.

However, shortly after the vehicle exited through Gate No. 8, the security formation broke down, and security personnel had difficulty controlling the crowd amid the enthusiasm of supporters and the presence of journalists. It took nearly an hour for the convoy to leave the airport area.

After four months of treatment abroad, the air ambulance carrying Khaleda Zia departed from Heathrow Airport for Dhaka at 9:35 pm Bangladesh time on Monday (5 May).

The aircraft made a one-hour stopover at Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, for refuelling before continuing its journey to Dhaka.
