Staff Report :The Jamalganj police have recovered an unidentified body in Jamalganj, Sunamganj. The discovery sparked significant local concern, but family members later identified the deceased in the presence of the police. The victim has been identified as Abdul Hamid (53), as confirmed by his wife, Nureza Begum (30). While Hamid was a resident of Sangrampur village in the Fatehpur Union of Bishwambharpur Upazila, he had been living in a rented house in Telia Lamapara, Jamalganj Upazila.

Details of the Incident

According to police and local sources, the events unfolded as follows:

 On Thursday morning, locals spotted a body lying in the Teranagar area and immediately notified the police. Tahirpur-Jamalganj police arrived at the scene to recover the body. The victim's wife had previously filed a General Diary (GD) with the Jamalganj Police Station, stating that her husband had been missing for the last four days.

 After matching the description provided by the wife with the recovered body, police escorted her to the scene, where she officially identified him.

Nureza Begum stated that her husband had no known enemies. The couple has two sons and one daughter.

"Judging by the condition of the body, it appears the incident may have occurred 5 to 6 days ago. It is possible that miscreants committed the act elsewhere and dumped the body here under the cover of night." Pronoy Roy, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Tahirpur-Jamalganj Circle), confirmed that the identity has been established. He noted that the case is being investigated with high priority, and legal action will be taken once specific evidence is gathered.
